Brandon Parker wins 5 at Monticello

In his young career Brandon Parker has won 3 races in 1 day a handful of times, but on Thursday April 15, the 22-year-old Parker won 5 races on the 13 race card, Parker wasted no time and scored in race 2 with Masterson in 1:56.2, the 9-year-old gelded son of Bettors Delight notched his first win on the season for trainer Thomas Milici. Next up was, We Never Get a Colt, who won by a head over pace setter Redneck Fourtune in 1:58.1. One of Parker wins came by virtue of a dead heat in race 9 when both Bettor Reason N and See You Friday crossed the wire in unison in 2:01.2, the win gave trainer Thomas Milici a training double on the afternoon. Parker benefitted from driver James Scarpias giving Mike Merton the cold shoulder the entire mile in race 11, the field was 4 a breast at the top of the stretch, Brandon scored with Mom’s Crossroads over James Scarpias and Fashion Dragon in 2:01.1. The career milestone came with a wire to wire win aboard Starskys Dream N in the finale in 1:58.4, the 11 year Mach Three gelding is trained by Brandon’s father Billy “Zeke” Parker.
Brandon is currently in 7th place for leading dash winning drivers with 27 wins, Michael Merton is atop the leader board with 68 wins, followed by Bruce Aldrich Jr. with 56, rounding out the top three is James Devaux with 54 trips to the winner circle.
Also on the card, trainer Candace Brandstatter had a training double with Greg Merton getting the winning drive on both mounts. Over $801,000 was wagered on the 13 race card.
