Joyride Hanover Sets Track Record at Monticello

Monticello, N.Y. – In just her third pari-mutuel start, Joyride Hanover eclipsed the former track record for two-year-old pacing fillies at Monticello by 2/5 to set the new mark of 1:54.2. The old record of 1:55 was set on August 29, 2016 and was held by Planet Rock.

Joyride Hanover, a $105,000 yearling purchase, started from post 2 and made short work of the five-horse field. Both Su Su Sussudioi and April Angel were scratched sick. Joyride Hanover, the 1/5 favorite with Todd McCarty in the bike, scored in a wire to wire in 1:54.2 over Wine N Dine Me (Joe Bongioro) by a scant neck, with Reenactment (Scott Zeron) taking home the show position. The talented Joyride Hanover is by American Ideal and is trained by Eddie Dennis for owner Eric Good of Denton, MD.

In the second division of NYSS action, worth $34,200, Just Divine lived up to her name. Starting from the rail, she was fourth at the quarter pole and started her move before the half and took the lead and never looked back, scoring by three lengths for driver Yannick Gingras to win in 1:55.3. The daughter of Huntsville is trained by Ron Burke. Hamptons Babe was second (Todd McCarthy) and A Girl That Twirls was third (Simon Allard).

Kele Kele (Matt Kakaley) won the final Sire Stakes event on the card by a length over Throw The Dice (Scott Zeron) and American Halo (Todd McCarthy) in 1:56.3, taking a two-year-old record in the process. Kele Kele is sired by So Surreal and is trained by John McDermott.

In the Excelsior A Divisions, the winners were Patsville 1:57.2, Jacana 1:58.1, Kings Princess 1:57.3, owned by Monticello native Andy Herzog, and Perfect Queen, who lit up the tote board at 32-1 ($65.20) in 1:59.4. Excelsior B action saw Pembroke Ideal Bi 1:59.1 (Jason Bartlett) and River Belle (Mike Merton) 1:59.3.

Todd McCarthy and Matt Kakaley each drove winners on the afternoon. American Ideal lead all sires with four winners on the afternoon.

NYSS action returns to Monticello Raceway on Monday, July 26 when three-year-old Filly Trotters come to town.
