Cory Stratton wins 4 – Awol Hanover takes Open Trot

On a fog encrusted afternoon Cory Stratton started off hot winning both half’s of the early Daily Double with PC Foreign Affair 2:01 – $3.60 and King Of Heroes N 1:57.4 – $16.20. He would also score aboard Swancredit 2:01.3 – $5.40 and Awol Hanover in the Open Trot.
Awol Hanover (Cory Stratton) couldn’t be found in the fog, but he did find the winners circle in the Open Trot, scoring by a head over Crazycat and Cinnamon Stick in 2:00.1.
On today’s card there were a pair of 14-year-old trotters making their final career start, going out a winner was Watkins who scored in 2:02.2, in his career the 14-year-old son of Striking Sahbra earned an impressive $1,030,000 with 60 trips to the winner circle with a record of 1:53 taken when he was 9, he was driven to victory by Greg Merton, he is trained and owned by Michael Annunziata.
Also in the same race and finishing 3rd was the durable Aruba Vacation with career stats of lifetime earnings of $659,000 and a record of 1:53.2 and with 48 wins, the son of Dream Vacation was bred, owned and trained by Guy Howard.
Greg Merton had a driving double and trainer Bo Sower has a pair of winners on the afternoon.
