On a snowy afternoon that had a 20-minute delay to scrap the track after race 3, saw 3 horsemen have doubles. The heavy going did not deter Cinnamon Stick in the Open Trot, starting from the outside position 7, Cinnamon Stick made a bold 3 wide move in the paddock turn in heavy snow down the lane to score in 2:01.3 over Bucketlist Hanover (Larry Stalbaum) and Makin Trouble K (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) The 7-year-old son of Jailhouse Jesse notched his 4th win of the year for owner Michael C. Mulligan of Liberty NY and is trained by Gregory Decker.
Gary Messenger and Jim Taggart Jr. teamed up for a pair of winners on the snowy afternoon with the 3/5 favorite Chip Chip Conway in a 4 length win in 2:01.3, and Onemoreswan who had the lead and 4 lengths on the pack in the blink of an eye scored handily in 2:02.1 – $3.00.
Dan Gill also trained 2 winners, dismissed by the betting public as the longest shot on the board at 39-1 American Island came from nowhere on the far outside to get up in the final strides in a tight photo in 2:01 – $79.50 with Bruce Aldrich in the bike. Gills other winner came with the finale winner of Barnabas and Brandon Parker in 1:58.4 – $24.40.
