This afternoons 8 race card was highlighted by 2 division of the $6,600 Open Trot, in the first heat ER Sophia benefitted from a perfect trip behind Hot Summer Knight to sneak up along the rail to get the win in 1:58.2 for Team Messenger, trainer Gary Messenger and driver Jim Taggart Jr. The pair also had a winner with Onemoreswan -1:59 – $3.10, both of which are sired by Swan For All. Team Messenger would also go on to win with KJ Michael in 1:56.2 – $5.90.
The second heat saw the winner of one of last week’s Open Trot, Cinnamon Stick score in a wire to wire win in 1:58 over Making Trouble K (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) and Chip Chip Conway (Jim Taggart Jr.) for his 5th win the year and his best winning time in 2 years for the Jailhouse Jessie offspring who is trained by Gregory Decker.
Leading Dash winning driver Greg Merton added 2 wins in the win column this afternoon to hold a 1 win advantage over Jim Taggart Jr, Merton scored with Cee Cee Panic in 1:56.2 to notch his 5th with of the year for trainer Chris Petrelli, Cee Cee Panic is now tied with 5 other horses with the most wins thus far this season.
