The first race this afternoon could have been dubbed the Senior Citizens pace as the median age of the 6 starters was 12.1-year-old. Earlier in the year SB Mikes Hot Beach had won 5 in a row, this afternoon he got back on his winning ways after scoring in 1:59.3 with regular pilot Jim Taggart Jr. SB Mikes Hot Beach is now stands atop the Monticello Raceway leader board for the horse with the most wins. SB Mikes Hot Beach is owned and trained by Monica Eriksen. He is tied with 7 other horses in the nation with as many wins. After today’s start, he sports an impressive resume of 12 starts 7 wins, 1 second and 4 show finishes and has earned over $15,000 thus far this season, not bad for a 14-year-old!
In other action Uncle Qwackers earned a personal best speed badge after his win in 1:59.3 for trainer Tiffany Barrett as did Juniors’ Dew for trainer Ashley Eldred in 1:57.2.
