Back to Back wins for Apex Seelster

This week’s Open Pace drew only 5 entries vying for a purse of $7,600, Jim Devaux was in no rush to get to the front end as he was the only horse that left the gate for the lead getting to the quarter mile marker in 27.3. The favorite Nui Ba Den started his patented last first over at the half in 56.4 but stalled down the backside forcing Mike Merton aboard Trevor One who was full of pace to go 3 wide in the paddock turn. The little congestion gave Apex Seelster some separation as they went 1:26.2 at the ¾ and was able to keep the others at bay winning by a 2 length margin in 1:55.1 Hestons Lucky Chip benefited from a perfect trip and was able to get up for second, Trevor One finished 3rd, Ken Koch is the trainer.
For Apex Seelster it was his second consecutive win in the Open class, and his fourth win of the season for trainer Ken Koch, Thomas Millici owns the 6-year-old gelded son of Big Jim.
Driver Jim Devaux and Ken Koch would also teamed up for personal doubles aboard Better Up 1:55.4 – $9.40.
Trainer Anthony Regina had back to back training wins on the card with Just Wave Goodbye (Greg Merton) 1:58.1 – $6.20 and with Dreaming Silly (Mac Sowers) 1:58.3 – $5.60 who earned her impressive 7th win of the year.
