Christopher Petrelli and Mike Merton teamed up for 2 wins on the card, first aboard Special Achiever in a wire to wire win in 1:55.3 – $3.00 for her 3 win in a row, fourth on the year. In the Open for Fillies & Mares Beauty Is Blind got back on the winning track, starting from Post 7 she and Milady Denver A (PP4) left briskly. Beauty Is Blind was on top near the quarter Greg Merton driving Milday Denver A quickly retook passing that marker in 29.0. The positions remained unchanged past the half in 58.1, Casie’s Believer (Joe Chindano) mounted his rally at the 5/8 pole as the field hit the next timer in 1:27.0 with Milday Denver A still leading the way. Beauty Is Blind had just enough in the tack to hold off Milady Denver A by a length in 1:55.4 to earn her 5th win of the season. Poppy Drayton N (Shawn Tritton) finished 3rd.
Gary Messenger and leading driver Jim Taggart Jr. teamed up to take both half’s of the early Daily Double, in the first race only 4 went to the gate after a late scratch of Another Long Song. Taggart scored with a come from behind win aboard KJ Phillip in 2:02.2 – $5.30 who earned a new lifetime mark in the process. Taggart used the same tactic to score with Electrocuted in 1:57.3 – $9.30.
