Apex Seelster makes it 3 in row – Rocks Fantasy ranked nationally
May 24, 2022
Back in the ole days when you won 3 races in a row in Open company, you would be given your eligibility papers and were told to get lost for a while, Race Secretary Eric Warner may be in that situation with Apex Seelster.
This afternoon he handily defeated five of the best pacers on the grounds, even with given the outside post position (7) it still did not thwart Apex Seelster. Driver Jim Devaux left the gate and went right for the lead with the favorite getting it just past the quarter in 27.4 over Trevor One. Approaching the half Greg Merton driving Retour Au Jeu pulled on the right line to begin his first over trek as they hit the next marker in 57.0 with Apex Seelster still on the front end. Devaux pressed the gas pedal and paced his third panel in 28.1 to put away the gritty Retour Au Jeu. Apex Seelster hit the next marker in 1:25.1 and 2 lengths on his closest competitor at the top of the stretch to hold off Trevor One who benefitted from a perfect trip with Prophet Blue Chip finishing third, time for the mile was 1:54:1
Rock Fantasy is now the winningest horse on the grounds today after his score in 1:55.2, which was a new lifetime mark for the Bo Sowers trainee, he was driven to the win by Mcgwire Sowers. It was win #10 for the gelded son of Pet Rock. Nationally he is tied with 3 other horse that have 10 wins and the leader being Linedrive Hanover who leads to pack with 11 wins. Mcgwire Sowers also drove Dreaming Silly to her 8th win of the year in 1:58.
