June 1, 2022
The Memorial Day weekend compressed this weeks racing schedule to 3 days of racing, with the 1 less day of racing the box was overflowing. This afternoon’s card and tomorrow are 10 races cards and a 13 race card on Thursday.
As the temperatures begin to get hotter, so does Camwood. This year it took a while for the 8-year-old gelded son of Woodstock to get back on track and start hitting on all 8 cylinders. This afternoon he looked like the Camwood of old scoring a powerful wire to wire 4-length win in 1:53, the fastest mile of the year with Brandon Parker at the helm, finishing second was Trevor One followed by Prophet Blue Chip. Parker had a driving double, taking the closer with Magical Lily Bear in 1:56.2.
Kyle Dibenedetto was first away from the gate with Caviart Cherie, Beauty Is Blind also left quickly and took the 2 hole and followed Caviart Cherie around the oval through fractions of 28.1, 57.2. 1:26.1. Poppy Drayton N mounted an attempt at the leaders at the 5/8 marker but the effort stalled and she settled for third in 1:54.4, Beauty Is Blind was second. Caviart Cherie is trained by Nick Devita
Trainer Dan Gill scored 3 wins on the card, first he had back to back wins with Miss Quality 1:56.3 – $8.90 – Mcgwire Sowers and Lovin Miss Daisy N 1:58.1 – $6.90 – Bruce Aldrich Jr. and then came back with Fair Glider in 1:59.3 with Bruce Aldrich Jr. at the helm. The triple give Gill 27 wins for the season, ranking him in the fifth slot.
Special Achiever won her fourth straight start, giving Chris Pettrelli 2 wins on the card, Yankee Glide and Bettors Delight each sired 2 winners on the card.
New York Sire Stakes action returns next week Monday June 6 with 3-year-old pacing fillies taking center stage.
