Artmagic takes Open Pace

In his last start at Monticello, Artmagic encountered traffic issues; this week starting from post position 4, the son of Art Major was first away from the gate followed by Hestons Lucky Chip (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) and reeled off splits of 27.3, 57.1, 1:26.1. Rocks Fantasy and Trevor One mounted a brief charge down the backside but it was too little too late as Artmagic had 4 on the field and went on to score in 1:54.2 – $3.00 by a winning margin of 2 lengths for winning driver James Devaux and trainer Ken Koch. Hestons Lucky Chip finished second followed by Rocks Fantasy (Mcgwire Sowers).

The tandam of Mike Merton and Ken Koch teamed up for 2 winners on the card, the other winner was Comanche Creek in 1:56.4 – $2.90, Merton would also go on and score the hat trick with Strike The Gravel in 1:59.2 for a new lifetime best for trainer Eddie Hart.
