Special Achiever wins 6 in a row – Fox Valley Charliz take FM Open
June 28, 2022
This week’s edition of the $8,000 Filly and Mares Open saw some new faces with J Rockin B and Cay’s Blessing making their first Monti start. Starting from the rail was North County (Jim Taggart Jr.) who made a break before the start, Lady Dela Renta A was first away from the gate to get the lead and set a mild opening quarter tempo of 29.4. Seeing the slow pace Mcgwire Sowers was having none of that and opted to pull Cay’s Blessing in the paddock turn just past the quarter pole, Cory Stratton continued to put the sleeper hold on the field as they passed the half in a tepid 1:00.1 half. Cay’s Blessing had the leader collard at the ¾ pole as the pace quickened pacing the 3rd quarter in 28 for a 1:28.1 split. Fox Valley Charliz was following live cover behind Cay’s Blessing and was 3 wide turning for home, Fox Valley Charliz was drifting wide in the stretch but had enough to keep Cay’s Blessing at bay to score in 1:57.1 for driver Brandon Parker, Fox Valley Charliz was second followed by Abuelita Hanover (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) Fox Valley Charliz is trained by Christopher Petrelli.
Lauren Tritton notched a catch driving double aboard Rock The Casbah who won her 4th win a row for trainer Mike Kimelman in 1:58.3 and also with Wiggle My Cookie 1:56.4 for trainer Paul Blumenfeld.
Special Achiever (Mike Merton) notced her 6th straight win this afternoon for Chris Petrelli giving him 2 wins on the card.
