July 19, 2022
Monticello, N.Y. – Pleaseletmeknow, the heavy 1/9 favorite, did not disappoint his backers this afternoon at Monticello. Starting from Post 3 in the eight-horse field, he got away third. Midway down the backside, he tipped to the outside and wrangled the lead from Roll With The Flow just past the opening panel in 27.3. Once on top, Pleaseletmeknow and Matt Kakaley controlled the tempo with splits of 56.2 and 1:25.4. Roll With The Flow was out at the 5/8 pole, followed by Seven Hundred, but neither could mount a serious threat to the winner as he handily scored a two-length win margin in 1:53.2 – $2.10. The Messenger Stake winner notched his sixth win of the year and his third NY Sire Stake. The son of American Ideal is trained by Travis Alexander for Fiddlers Creek Stable. Finishing second was Shake It (Jason Bartlett) and Stretch The Line (Marcus Miller) was third. The win for Pleaseletmeknow upped his seasonal earnings tally to $266,927.
In the second heat, worth $60,300, JD, the Goshen Historic Track all-age record holder, scored in a nearly wire-to-wire performance in 1:54.3- $5.00 for driver Mark McDonald. The three-year-old son of So Surreal is trained by co-owner Ray Schnittker, for fellow owners George Zitone and Melissa Beckwith. It was his third win of the year. Huntanover (Tyler Buter) was second, followed by a hard-charging Blue Collar Man for Dan Daley.
Tyler Buter had a pair of winning Excelsior drives aboard Lanjo Lee (1:54.2 – $2.50) and Bluesville (1:54.2- $6.50). Other Excelsior winners were Kingsville (Jason Bartlett), scoring in 1:54.1 – $2.50 and Bloodhound (Jordan Stratton) in 1:54.4 – $17.20, a new lifetime record.
