Iammrbightside N turns back Daamericansky in Open Pace

On paper it looked like Daamericansky was well on his way to notch, his fifth consecutive win but Iammrbrightside N had different plans. Justin Huckabone driving Daamericansky from post 7 had him charged up and he timed the gate perfectly, working hard to get the lead past the quarter in 27.1. He remained on the front end reeling off splits of 56, 1:25.1. Sitting third was Iammrbrightside N with Brandon Parker who popped out of the three hole and got the lead from Daamericansky in quick order past the ¾ marker and quickly gained 2 lengths on Damericansky who was used hard early and was now paying the toll. Iammrbightside N was a 1-length winner in 1:54.2 – $10.00, the fastest mile of the day, with Daamericansky finishing second followed by Trevor One (Paquet Jr.)
Johnnie Desimone trains the 13-year-old stud for owner Joseph M Meaney of Crestwood, NY; it was the second win on the year for the aged stud who in his career has amassed over $630,000 in earnings with a lifetime mark of 1:50.3
Trainer Marianna Monaco had a banner day with a training double on the card, first with Ohio Vintage, who scored in a wire-to-wire win in 1:55 – $2.40 for his second win in a row; it was the first of 3 wins on the day for driver Greg Merton. The same duo came back in race 5 and won with Got Hot Mom from the eight hole in 1:58.1 – $4.80, the double now gives Monaco 11 training wins on the year at Monticello Raceway.
The highly capable Joe Lee scored with Seeuinnashville in the EWEY Amateur race in 1:56.0 – $3.50 for trainer Carl Tirella, Greg Merton had a driving triple and Brandon Parker had a double.
