Pedro Hanover take Open in 1:52.4

One of the fastest miles of the year occurred this afternoon as Pedro Hanover, who was making his 3rd start at Monticello Raceway turn back 6 of his contemporaries in a 1 length score in 1:52.4 – $5.40.
The well bred son of Somebeachsomewhere scored from post 4, Daamericansky (Huckabone) was the first to the front in 27.4, 56:1. The favorite Pedro Hanover who was sitting third at the half was the first to come first over, and when he did he hit the gas pedal hard. He collared Daamaericansky at the ¾ marker in a fleet 1:24.1, third panel in 28. He was under constant urging by Mike Merton through the stretch with a last panel of 28.3 to seal the deal over JM’S Delight (Greg Merton) and pace setter Daamericansky. Pedro Hanover is trained by ken Koch for owner Thomas Milici.
Sweet Scarlett broke her maiden and scored in a wire to wire win in 2:03.4- $3.70 for trainer Jeff Byron, it was one of 3 wins on the day for Bruce Aldrich Jr. In the EWEY Amateur event it was David Dziengiel and Prophet Blue Chip in 1:57.4 – $3.00 over Sammy B Happy (V. Merton).
