Nancy Bar set new Track Record for Aged Trotting Mares

A newcomer to the Open Trotting ranks this week was Nancy Bar, fresh off a win at Pocono Downs last start out. The 5 year old Bar Hopping mare made short work of some of the best trotters on the grounds to score in a convincing wire to wire performance in 1:56.1 – $2.30 to set a new track record for Aged Trotting Mares with Jim Devaux in the bike. Finishing second was Miss Muscle (K. Dibenedetto) followed by Itsoneofthose (A. Schwartz) it was her 5th seasonal win for owner Stephanie Lynn Olsen of by Loxahatchee, Florida, she is trained Thomas Haughton.
Southwind Larado (M. Merton) was much the best this afternoon with a 1:58.4 – $3.50 win, best winning time in 2 years for the 9 year old son of Cantab Hall for owners Jay and Melissa Appelblatt. Mike Merton had a pair of back to back winning drives, in addition to Southwind Larado he also scored with Jojo Blue Chip in 1:56 – $46.60 for trainer Chad Washington.
