Fern Paquet Jr. starting to Catch Fire

If Monticello Raceway had a Who’s Hot List, Fern Paquet Jr. would be at the top of the list, the 55 year old reinsman has been regularly notching driving wins at Monticello as of late and seems to have found a spot in the tough driving colony at the Mighty M. He was a Pompano Park regular for years and recently raced at Woodstock Raceway.  In his career as a driver he has won 3,295 races and purses earned of $19,965,017.

This afternoon Fern drove 2 winners on the day, Abuelita Hanover took the Filly and Mares Open in wire to wire fashion to win with ease with a 3 length win in 1:59, turning back Lady Chrislyn (Aldrich Jr.)  he also scored with Possess The Stone in 2:01.4 – $3.90, Danny Gill trains both Abuelita Hanover and Possess The Stone.

The tandem of Jim Taggart and Gary Messenger accounted for wins with KJ Phillip 2:01 – $22.20 and with Just A Passenger in 2:00.3 – $11.60, finishing second was the former Messenger trainee Warrawee Preferred.

Barn Star (McGwuire Sowers) had her first trip to the winner circle this year for trainer Jennifer Lowrey in 2:01.3 – $10.00
