Greg Merton Wins 5

Despite the dismal weather this afternoon it did not affect Greg Merton as he won 5 races on the day.

The banner day started off in the first race. Greg took both halves of the early daily double aboard Groovy Jane Ann 2:02.1 – $13.60 who broke her maiden, next up was Bettor Lady in 2:00.4 – $3.30, it was her third connective win, a winner of 4 of her last 5 starts for trainer Danny Gill.

After a 2-race hiatus, Greg came back and won races 5, 6 and 7 aboard Major Rosita 2:01.3 – $12.20, Kokanee Seelster 1:58.3 – $17.80 and Franco Tristan N, Trainer Elisha Lafreniere enjoyed a training double on the card.

 The afternoons Open Pace went to Caviart Reagan (Mike Merton) 1:56.4 – $4.00 who snatched the lead from Hopnroll Heaven before the wire and thwarted Greg’s attempt for 6 winners on the day.

2 months into the year Mike Merton is a top of the leader board with 46 wins going into Monday’s races, followed by Jim Taggart 36 and the hot Greg Merton with 33 wins, Dan Gill is the leading trainer with 21 wins, Bob Lounsbury is second with 15 and last years leading Trainer Laura Aldrich is third with 14 winners.
