Mike Merton Pads His Lead with 4 Winners Today

Although the weather may have cooled down, Mike Merton certainly has not. Over the weekend Mike won 5 consecutive races at Tioga Downs and won 3 qualifiers to boot, this afternoon at Monticello Raceway he continued his winnings ways by winning 4 races.
He started the day with a win in the first race aboard Sweet Ginger from the 7 hole in 1:59.2 – $10.20 for trainer Billy “Zeke” Parker. Next up was the Jim Doherty Jr trainee Somegirlsomewherea in 1:58.1 – $8.40. Maching Millions earned his second won on the year in 2:00 – $4.30. Merton would cap off the card with a win aboard Barn Star the favorite in 2:01.2 – $3.30 for trainer Jenn Lowrey.
The 52-year-old Merton has established an almost unsurmountable lead over his closest competitor, Merton leads the way with 123 wins over Jim Taggart with 95 wins.
Bruce Aldrich Jr. had a driving double, We The Female (K. Dibenedetto) scored her 8th seasonal win for trainer Raheim Strong.
