COWGIRL HANOVER REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN NYSS ACTION

Monticello, NY (July 2, 2024) – On paper it looked like a contest between the unbeaten Cowgirl Hanover, winner of last week’s Sire Stake race and All Hail The Queen, who was making her parimutuel debut after a pair of strong winning qualifier performances at Monticello. However, when the dust settled Cowgirl Hanover was clearly the best yesterday afternoon and extended her winning streak.
The betting public installed All Hail The Queen as the favorite in yesterday afternoon’s $106,300 Sire Stakes event. Bronx Mixer (M. Kakaley) from the rail was the first to the front, coming out of the first turn Cowgirl Hanover got away second along the rail, for a moment it appeared that Zeron would pull from the pocket to take the lead, but Zeron opted to sit in the garden spot. Send It Down Slim (M. MacDonald) a roan daughter of Huntsville scoring from post position four was still settling in late and went on for the lead in the opening panel of 28 and quickly opened up a 3-length lead. They went to the half in 58.2 with the gap diminished with the field still in straight alignment, the favorite All Hail The Queen (J. Bartlett) was fourth at this point, Americanbeachdream (Paquet Jr.) was a handful in the pocket and was all over Jason Bartlett’s helmet and came off the rail just past the half in a soft 58.2. At the 5/8 maker Scott Zeron made his first over move with Cowgirl Hanover with All Hail The Queen in tow as they hit the next panel in 1:28.1, turning for home Cowgirl Hanover was extending her lead and was not to be denied and soundly dispatched her foes and scored in 1:56.2 – LQ 28, a fast closing Bronx Mixer was second followed by Send It Down Slim, the favorite All Hail The Queen finished fourth.
Cowgirl Hanover (Huntsville – Code One) extended her perfect slate with two consecutive NYSS wins and a pair of winning qualifiers under her belt now for trainer Jared Bako, the daughter of Huntsville is owned by NY SEB Inc. of Katonah, NY, with the win she pushed her seasonal earnings to $78,900, the win puts her on top of the leader board and is now the leading point earner for her category, her next NYSS race is at Yonkers on July 11th.
In Excelsior action, Greg Merton and Blake Macintosh teamed up for a double, first with Courtly Maiden (Courtly Choice – Maid West) in 2:00.2 – $37.80 for her first lifetime win, the duo then came back and won with Moms Point (American Ideal – Bullet Point) in a pocket sitting trip in 2:01.3 $11.20 and earned a new record in the process. Hot off his Messenger Stakes win over the weekend, Travis Alexander saw his Blind Date Hanover (Huntsville – Blind Ambition) lead from start to finish to trip the beam in 1:59.2 – $3.90 with Matt Kakaley in the bike.
New York Sire Stakes returns to the famed Catskill Mountain oval on July 11th, when 3-Year-Old Trotting Fillies come to town on Monday July 15th.
