There was a few new and familiar faces in this week’s Open for Fillies and Mares, Rob Harmon entered Alta Madeira N who has raced at 4 different tracks in a months’ time where she drew the 7 hole. Michael Merton handled the driving chores for the New Zealand import, Merton wasted no time in hustling the 3/5 from the gate and grabbing lead from Perfect Queen (T. Merton) past the opening panel in a brisk 27.1. Once on top he set the pace with splits of 56.3, the first over flow didn’t develop until Elysium Seelster (G. Merton) made her move at the 5/8 pole with Somegirlsomewhere A  (J. Taggart) who swung out 3 deep in 1:25.3. Turning for home Alta Madeira N had 2 lengths on the pack but the lead would diminish with a fast closing Perfect Queen and Somegirlsomewhere A made her work for the win in 1:54.3 -$3.30.
