Kyle Dibenedetto and Jimmy Devaux dominated the 7 race card today, with Kyle winning 2 straight and then Devaux swept the last 3 races of the card.
The afternoons Open for Fillies and Mares saw the 1-9 favorite The Hunt Is One rebuff Perfect Queen in a very tight photo for the win. The Hunt is On started from post 5 for trainer Gary Gibson. Jimmy Devaux hustled the 5 year old mare to the top in 27.3, not content to sit the pocket Perfect Queen (T. Merton) was half in and half out past the opening panel, he then backed off and resettled in the 2 hole. Past the half in 57.1 Perfect Queen came first over again and this time eventually got the lead down the back side in 1:25.3. Thomas Merton worked up a sweat getting his mount on the bit in a spirited and animated stretch drive down the lane to but to no avail as The Hunt is On eventually caught the leader on the outside and scored by a nose in 1:55.3 – $2.30 for her six seasonal win.
Kyle Dibenedetto scored back to back wins aboard Vel What A Dream in 1:57.4 $3.90, trained by his wife Robin and then with We The Female in 1:56.4 – $ 8.60, it was 1 of 2 trainer wins on the day for Raheim Strong who also won the first race with Brendas Delight (J. Taggart Jr.)
Vanishing Act (J. Devaux) scored an impressive 7 length win in 1:58.2, his best winning time in over 2 years for trainer Robert Lounsbury.
