Open Trot
September 18, 2024
The afternoon’s featured race was the Open Trot, despite the heavy favorite Promise For Life having post position 8 it wasn’t enough to deter him from the winners circle. Win And Dream (M. Merton) from post 2 eased his way to the top but not for long as Promise For Life made the front end at the opening panel in a brisk 28.3. Town Victor (Jason Ricco) came first over at the half in 59, nearing the 5/8 marker Town Victor went off stride as Promise for Life hit the next panel in 1:28.3, turning for home he was well in command and strolled home a 3 length winner in 1:58.1 -$2.90 and the pocket sitting Win & Dream (M. Merton) holding on for second followed by Psalmsfortysixfive (S. Keppler). For the Robert Lounsbury trainee, it was win # 8 on the year for the Royalty For Life gelding, he was driven to the win by Jim Devaux who also won the following race aboard Provocativeprincen in 1:55.2 – $3.00. Both Devaux and Lounsbury would each record doubles on the day.
Michael Merton had a driving triple on the day, his winners were By A Hoff Hanover in 1:59.4, Camalchie Chrome in 1:58 and the finale aboard the roan 3 year old Huntsville filly Lindys Lolita who earned a new speed badge in 1:57.2 for trainer Peter Pellegrino.
