October 22, 2024
This afternoon’s featured race was the Open for F-M, vying for $8,800 with a full field of 8, last week’s Open winner Alta Madeira N scored from Post 8. When the gate sprung both Perfect Queen and Alta Madeira N both left strongly, in the middle of the first turn Alta Madeira N made a brief bobble, but was able to quickly contain herself. Once she resigned her composure Mike Merton urged her on to the front and she reached that station in 28 with Perfect Queen the leader, she was still on top at the half in 57.1. Approaching the half, Flo Jo (Shane Taggart) started the outer flow, at the next station in 1:26.3 they were even. Turning for home Alta Madeira N was still the leader, Perfect Queen went to the inside in the passing lane and was able to overtake Alta Madeira Nat the wire in 1:56.1- $ 7.70. Perfect Queen is trained by Tiffany Barrett, she upped her seasonal earnings to a respectable $62,000.
