This afternoon the Catskill Mountains enjoyed a beautiful bout of Indian Summer with the temperatures’ eclipsing 76 degrees.
On tap this afternoon Tuesday October 22 were 2 splits of the Open Pace events. The first heat was a 7-horse affair with the scratch of Hunted House which as carded as race 5. Major Makover (G. Merton) from post 5 was the betting time favorite. He did not disappoint; he took the lead past the opening panel of 28.3 and bulled his way home a 3 length winner over Ginger Tree Finny (T. Merton) in 1:55.3- $ 3.80 for trainer Peter Pellegrino for his 6th win on the year.
The other open event saw T Dog (PP2) who was making his second start in this class, the 4-year-old son of Bolt the Duer was content to let Spectacular Plus (J. Taggart Jr.) cut the mile with fractions of 28.2 – 57.3. At the half T Dog picked up first over cover from the favorite Feelin Western (M. Merton) Spectacular Plus was still showing the way at 1:26.2, turning for home he tired badly, in the lane in was T Dog who got up for the win in 1:55.3 for Co-owner – trainer and driver Michael Kimelman.
On the 8-race card Greg Merton lead all drivers with 3 winners, Greg Merton had a pair of wins, Stonebridge Rocks has now tied Mystical Gal with 14 wins at Monticello Raceway. Fated Future (G. Merton) made it 2 in a row with a 1:59 score, the 3 YO son of Betting Line is owned by Andrew Herzog of Monticello, NY. and is trained by Nicholas Devita.
