The afternoons (November 18) featured race was the Filly & Mares Open vying for $7,900 with a field of 7, the betting public made Cannery Row (G. Merton) the favorite. Alta Madeira N (M. Merton) cut the mile with fractions of 28.1, 57.3 and 1:26.4. At the half Dan Rawlings aboard Vel Straight Out were the first to come first over with Abby Rose (B. Aldrich Jr.) in tow. Vel Straight Out had collared the tempo setting Alta Madeira N in the paddock turn and had 2 lengths on the pack turning for home and was an easy 3 length winner in 1:56 – $12.40. The Tammy Sowers trained son of Straight Shooting is owned by Clifford Grundy. Cannery Row (G. Merton) got up for second followed by Alta Madeira N.
Monica Eriksen is inching closer to Leading Trainer Laura Aldrich Jr. with a win with Lady Warrior in 1:58.4 – $ 9.40, Aldrich leads the pack going into Monday card with 96 wins vs Erikson’s 91 winners.
Jim Taggart and Gary Messenger teamed up and won the first and last race of the day with Go Long 2:01.2 – $3.00 and aboard Infinity Seelster – 1:57.1.
