Today’s card on Wednesday December 18, 2024, saw 2 Open Trot Events on the 8-race card. The first Open saw Scott Keppler aboard the 3/2 favorite I Got The Tab cut the mile with Rosies War Bonds (K. Dibennedetto) following in the 2 hole. Approaching the half Lady’s Image came off the rail in her first over bid after a tepid half time of 1:01.4, down the backside as they hit the next panel in 1:32.3 Jack Fire was sitting 6th at this point as I Got The Tab was still showing the way. Turning for home I Got The Tab had a 1 length lead on the pack but midway through the stretch Jack Fire unleashes a wicked kick to get up for the win with Westlynn Crown (G. Merton) getting up for the place position followed by I Got The Tab in 2:03.4 – 11.00, the winner is trained by Edgar Clarke and was driven by hot driver of the day Thomas Merton, who had a driving triple for the day .
The other Open event saw Ackles Hanover (B. Aldrich) get his 12th seasonal win after taking the lead from Doo Wop Kid (A, Schwartz) past the opening panel to go on for the win in a tight photo over Do Wop Kid and Mr Contestant (G. Merton) and returning $15,20 for win.
Earlier in the card Thomas Merton shook the tote board when he got the 47-1 Somebeach Baron home in 1:59.1 – $97.50, Luscious Lucky has now strung together a 3-race win streak for owner trainer Tim Miller of New Berlin, NY, the filly scored today in a wire-to-wire winning performance 2:01.1.
Trainers Art Green and Ken Kock each had training duces on the day and Mike Meron had a driving double.
