The afternoons card was riddled with 10 scratches for a variety of reasons, the week’s Open Pace was whittled to 7 with the scratch of Stabler (PP1), Air Guitar a 3 time Open winner in 2025 was starting from post 8 and was installed the favorite with Colin Kelly in the bike for trainer Mark Ford.
When the gate sprang, so did Beach Party (PP5) with Bruce Aldrich Jr. at the helm who lead at each split 27.3, 57.4. They were single file under the half when Trevors Ace (K. Dibenedetto) was the first to pull the right line in a first over trek with Beach party still on the lead where he would remain 1:26.2 in a one length win in 1:56.1 – $8.10, Rock On Lou (T. Merton) was second with Trevor’s Ace getting up for third.
For Beach Party it was his 5th win on the year for leading trainer Laura Aldrich who had 2 winners on the day, the other being Long Weekend A 1:56.3 -$3.30. Trainer Ken Koch trained the winners of the early daily double and the last race of the day for a triple. Greg Merton ruled the day with a driving triple.
Senior Partner (G. Merton) broke his maiden in his second lifetime start in 1:59.3 – $2.90 the son of Bettors Delights is trained by Aaron Lambert.
