THE LAST MARTINI SEEKING ANOTHER NEW YORK SIRE STAKES WIN AT MONTICELLO RACEWAY

Monticello, NY (August 1, 2025) – On Monday August 4, sophomore Pacing Fillies will go behind the gate for their sixth leg of New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) worth $121,800. The race showcases a pair of aces from the Jared Bako barn with The Last Martini and Cowgirl Hanover.
The Matriarch, and top point earner is The Last Martini, the Crawford Farms bred daughter of Huntsville – Martinique is part of trainer Jared Bako’s uncouple entry. She has drawn post position two in the eight-horse affair, she will be driven by Jason Bartlett. She is a three-time Sire Stake winner this season with wins at Tioga Downs and Vernon Downs and most recently at Batavia in 1:53.2 with earnings of $194,012. She has also been on the Grand Circuit, finishing third in the Fan Hanover. Last season she was the winner of the New York Sire Stakes Final worth $225,000.
Cowgirl Hanover (PP5 – B. Boyd) has been late to the scene in her three-year-old campaign, she enters the race with a winning qualifier and a fourth-place finish in this company under her belt. Last season she was a winner in Sire Stakes competition at Monticello, and winner of $367,666 as a freshman.
The Ray Schnittker trained, Send it Down Slim (PP8 –M. Macdonald) will be hampered by the outside post draw. She has one Sire Stake win this season at Buffalo Raceway, and a string of five second place finishes, earning $173,725 for owner Grozcona Racing Stable LLC. Mrs Cheese (PP6 – M. Kakaley) has one Sire Stake win to her resume with a win at Saratoga in 1:53.2, the American Ideal filly is trained by Scott Domenico. With her three wins, she has banked $141,640 thus far this season.
Also, on tap are two eight-horse fields of the $20,000 Excelsior Stakes, carded as races three and eight. In the third race Bronx Mixer (PP3 – M. MacDonald) is the top point earner in her category by virtue of her three wins and two second place performances in this class, the Huntsville offspring is trained by Ray Schnittker. Cory Stratton brings his ChanceofLightning (PP8 –C. Stratton) to the fray. In eleven starts she has five wins and three second places finishes with Excelsior victories at Tioga Downs, Goshen and Batavia. The second division is another full pack of eight behind the gate. Fashion Terror (2 J. Bartlett) has a three-race winning streak with Excelsior wins at Batavia, Saratoga and Goshen. The local horse is KJ Becky (PP8 – G. Merton) for trainer Gary Messenger.
