22-1 Lupa and Bo Sowers took the $9,300 Open One in an off the pace trip to trip the beam in 1:55.4 – 47.20, defeating Elite Machine (A.Moeykens) and Kourageous Key (T. Merton) the gelding is owned and trained by Tammy Sowers and picked up his 5th win on the year
In the Open Two, it was Saranac Blue Chip and Mike Merton edging out Trevor’s Ace in 1:55- $2.60 for trainer Dan Morrissey, sixth win on the year for the 7 year old American Ideal gelding.
Brave Warrior, a 2 year old son by Courtly Choice extended his winning streak to 9 STRAIGHT this afternoon for Trainer Benny Eggers, winning in 1:59.3 – $3.40, the driver Jabob Bouch made his Monticello driving debut a winning one. The 2 year old has campagned exclusively at the County Fair circuit. He won the NYS County Fair Final in Goshen for owners Benny Eggers and Mary Ellen Abbot of Middletown, NY. You would be hard pressed to find a finer gentleman and Horsemen than Benny Eggers.
Full Speed Ahead (K. Dibenedetto) notched his 4 consecutive win in 1:54.4 – $8.50 for trainer Peter Pellegrino before promptly being claimed by new trainer Keith Haase.
On a sad note, the Monticello Raceway family mourns the loss of longtime Monticello Patron & Owner Frank Sacco, who passed away last evening, no funeral arragements have been made at the present.
