The afternoon’s card was a 10 race card that featured the Melissa Appelblatt Memorial Pace and we witnessed Elliott Moeykens win his first pari-mutuel race.

Elliott Moeykens, a 19 year old provisional driver recorded his first lifetime pari-mutuel aboard Lizziana in a 2 length winning effort in 1:58.3, the 7 year old mare is owned and trained by his Dad Joe Moeykens. When Elliott returned to the paddock he promptly received the customary dousing from the well-wishers in the paddock, Congratulation Elliott and the first of many to come!

The Melissa Appelblatt Pace was won by Rock A Honey with Tommy Merton in the bike in 1:56.2, the winner is trained by Veronica Merton for longtime Monticello Raceway patron and owner Christopher Elia of Warren, NJ.

Jahan Hanover scooted up the rail the snatch the victory from Better be Gouda (G. Merton) in the Open Pace in 1:54.3, Smoking Hot Dude (K. Dibenedetto) was third. It was the aged gelding third seasonal win for trainer Tammy Sowers.

Leading trainer Tammy Sowers recorded a triple, on the other side of the Ledger leading driver Mike Merton had a double as did Bruce Aldrich Jr.
