Cinnamon Stick Wins Open Trot

This afternoon of racing saw where the front end was not the place to be, 7 of the 8 winners on the card came from off the pace. The trend kept true in the last race of the day in the $7,600 Open Trot, ER Shane (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) left swiftly from post 6 to grab the lead, Cinnamon Stick tucked in behind him to bide his time as ER Shane set the tempo of 23.3, 59, 1:28.2. ER Shane had 2 length advantage of the top of the lane but Greg Merton worked hard on the betting favorite Cinnamon Stick to get up for the win in 1:58 – $3.90. It was win #6 for the Greg Decker trainee, the son of Jailhouse Jesse is owned by Michael Mulligan of Liberty, NY.
The North American Amateur Drivers Association had 2 $7,500 races on the card, the first heat saw Cyclone Maximus tucked in the garden spot behind Karets who cut the mile, at the top of the lane Cyclone Maximus dove into the passing lane and was able to get up in time to defeat Cyclone Maximus by a whisker in 2:02.4 – $9.10 for driver Jacob Stillwell. In the second heat Makin Trouble K went down the road, despite having 4 lengths on the group at the quarter mile marker Alan Schwartz was able to get Makin Trouble K to the wire first over Shoemaker Hanover in 2:00.3 – $4.80
Both Greg Merton and Mcgwire Sowers each had a driving double. Rocks Fantasy notched his 6th win of the year with a 1:56.2 over Mintliscious for Team Sowers.
