On Monday December 23, Monticello Raceway presented an 11 race card with 2 Open Pace Events, due to the extreme cold there were many scratches.
The first Open Pace of the card was a short field of 5 due to 2 late scratches, BEEBEETEE slid down in the passing lane to overtake the pacesetter KJ Hunter (J. Taggart Jr.) in mid-stretch to score in 1:57 – $5.40 What About Bob (S. Keppler) finished a game third despite being parked much of the mile
Bob Lounsbury had 3 winners on the card, he started off in the opener with Swancredit (J. Devaux) 2:02.3 – $27.40, he then came back and won races 8 & 9 with Hurrikane Jonnyboy in the Open 2 and then with Lady Chrislyn (B. Aldrich Jr.) in 2:00.1 – $7.00 for her 11th win on the year. Sweet Ginger (D Rawlings) notched her 13th seasonal win in 1:59.3 – $ 4.00 for Billy “Zeke” Parker.
The race for leading trainer will go down to the last day of the year to separate Laura Aldrich and Monica Eriksen, at this juncture Aldrich has a 1 win advantage over Eriksen. Michael Merton holds a comfortable lead over his brother Greg.
Dan Rawlings, Jimmy Devaux & Mike Merton each had driving double
As a reminder there will be no Racing Tuesday on Christmas Eve and Wednesday Christmas Day this week, Live Racing will resume on Thursday and Friday.
