This week’s Open Trot featured was loaded with talent, Promise For Life (PP7) and Cartier Zette (PP6), and Emma Town Bud (PP5), but someone forget to tell that to Woodside Genius.

Cartier Zette had to earn his way to the top with Joe Chindano Jr. in the bike, getting to that juncture in 30. The pack was single file at the half in 1:01, shortly after Emma Town Bud (P. Bovay) got underway with the eventual winner sitting third.  Approaching the 5/8 marker Ackles Hanover (G. Merton) made a break and gave Cartier Zette a brief 3 length separation from the field hitting the next panel in 1:30.4 with Woodside Genius first over followed by Emma Town Bud. Cartier Zette’s lead diminished turning for home with a host of pursuers, but in the end 8-1 Woodside Genius got up for the win in 2:01.2 – $19.40 by a head over Emma Town Bud followed by Promise for Life (B. Aldrich Jr.) it was Woodsides second seasonal win for trainer Gary Messenger.

Going into todays’ card, the ladies hold 4 out of the 5 top slots for leading trainers, Tammy Sower & Laura Aldrich lead the pack with 16 wins each, Monica Eriksen is third with 12, Autym Robinson nails down the fifth spot with 8 wins.  Monica Eriksen and Laura Aldrich each nabbed training wins on today’s card.
