The afternoon’s card was a 10 race affair loaded with Trots, with the $9,000 Open Trot and 2 divisions of the NAADA North American Amateur Driving Association Series, each spilt going for $8,500.
The first heat of the NAADA saw the kingpin on the series Andrew Adamczyk, take the heat in a 4 length win aboard Woodside Genius over Big Charlie Moran (T. Beltrami) in 1:59 – $9.88, the winner is trained by Gary Messenger. Scott Keppler steered Doo Wop Kid to the win in the other division in 1:59.2 over Yucatan Party Man (T. Ciuffetelli)
The cards feature race was the $9,000 Open Trot with a full field of 8 behind the gate, the out of town invader Shake N Bake drew the 7 hole. DC Anna (B. Aldrich) grabbed the lead from Makin Magic Tonight past the first quarter in a brisk 27.4 and was on top at every beam. All the while Shake N Bake was taking the uncovered overland route for the majority of the mile, he still had enough in the tank to get past the leader and win by a lenght in 1:57.1 – $26.38. Ackles Hanover was third (R. Cushing) For the Ohio breed winner it was his third win of the year for the Peter Pellegrino trainee. American Shine is getting ready for his 3 year old campaign, starting off with a win in 1:58 for trainer Blake Macintosh in 1:58 – $3.72.
Mike and Greg Merton each had a pair of winning drives, Trainer Alan Schwartz had two winners on the day with Raceace in 1:58.1 -$7.54 and Doo Wop Kid in 1:59.2 – $5.38.
