On Wednesday April 22, Monticello Raceway conducted an 11 race card, highlighted by the $9,000 Open Trot and 2 splits of the North American Amateur Driving Association (NAADA)
The first division of the NAADA Series worth $8,500 saw leading NAADA driver Andrew Adamczyk score with Empire Builder in a wire to wire score in 2:00.4 -$5.34 for trainer Danny Gill. Adamczyk was thwarted in the other division when Dave Yarock slipped through the rail with Barn Credit in 2:00.1-$18.46 for trainer Luis Guevara.
In the $9,000 Open Trot the 3/5 favorite Shake N Bake (G. Merton) got the win but he did it the hard way, uncovered for the last half mile while In My Dreams set the tempo. He was 3 deep off the last turn and powered his way to the win in 1:58.4 -$2.52. In My Dreams (M. Merton) held on for second with Ackles Hanover (J. Devaux) getting up for the show spot. The winner is trained by Peter Pellegrino
Greg Decker Jr. scored with another winner today the 15-1 Goby Hanover (J. Taggart Jr.) in 2:00.2 – $30.76. Shane and Lauren Tritton’s 3 year old Captaintreachous filly, Lochinvar Matilda looked good in her first start this season, scoring well in hand in 1:56.2 – $2.56 with Lauren in the bike.
Mike Merton lead all drivers with a triple, and Greg Merton had a pair of winners, Tammy Sowers had a training triple.
